Sanctuary project and farewell

I was invovled in a sanctuary renovation project in a rural church in Igamatundu. I designed the project and implemented it with the local craftsmen and masons. it came out good and colourful. ( some photos under the pages).

For timebeing I also did my farewell by the end of june to my short stay in Kenya. Definitely it gave me lot of new experience. From working in a developed nation to a poor region in Kenya was an eye opener in many ways. How much you could achieve with a very little? Thanks to the parishioners of magumoni and its missions. God bless.

Wildlife Sanctuaries..

There are many wildlife sanctuaries in Kenya. The most popular being Masai Mara. Once you see a couple, the experience is the same except for the landscape. In Nakuru... another popular site, the water level has gone up so high even to immerse their office and all the Flamingos, the major attraction, have gone to some lake in Tanzania. Markets in rural areas

The Markets are quite different from the west. Regular stores are often well secured. On a market day a wooden stand is all it takes to sell. Then there are special markets. This community near Meru specialises in bananas.(photos under pages). Scores of trucks collect bananas on Tuesdays. These are the superstore of a small community. Isles of produce to bargain from. Then there are retailers selling packets ready to go. Fresh produce worth bargaining.

Bomas visit...

Bomas Kenya at Nairobi

A visit to Bomas Kenya is part of the tour cycle to Nairobi; a large ground with a performance Dome, restaurants, shops and model villages of all tribes. The performance arena is an impressive structure, with most of the roofing by natural materials. It reminded me of some of the Log structures in Canada. Since it was off season, the audience was very limited and some of the special items were cut from production. A group of performers will perform traditional dances and music in the respective tribal attire. Some of the performances were quite enjoyable. Go under pages to view photos...

African Safari

Samburu National Park

When you are in Africa, it is quite natural that you go on an African Safari to encounter the wild. I had the opportunity to visit Samburu National Park, sometime after Christmas. We were lucky to spot Elephants, lions, Giraff, Zebras, Ostriches, Monkeys and so on. For a first timer it was very exciting to see them in the wild ( though in a protected environment). CHRISTMAS GREETINGS

Merry Christmas to all.

Christmas is an invitation for us to taste the forbidden fruits of Eden: 

                         to experience what is untouchable, 

                         to listen what cannot be heard, 

                         to see what is not visible and 

                         to know what cannot be known with human intellect 

that is the person of Jesus Christ in our world today. 

Jesus, god made man, in him we have the vision, the touch and taste of divinity. 

There was a time when man was banned to touch and taste the divine fruit of Eden. But today God invites us to taste and see his first fruit.

There was a time when men were afraid to look at anything divine, fearing mortality; but today we are invited to join the shepherds to go and see. 

In the form of this little baby we experience the unimaginable dimensions of human reasoning, coming true with divine light.

                    I wish and pray that may this Christmas be an occasion for all of us to see the divinity in the kindness of our hearts, to touch God in the love of our family and friends, to taste Jesus through the eucharist and to see god in our broader vision of humanity.  

May the baby Jesus bless all of us!
